RIVER RAFTING

River Rafting takes place on the upper reaches of the Rive Wye and runs approximately 12 miles in a southerly direction from Builth Wells. There are some fast runs on this route interspersed with moderately sedate sections of water. You start your journey from tranquil head waters and scenic gorges to faster moving and more exciting water. Our rafts are able to carry up to 8 people (including instructor)- based on an average weight of 15 stone/ person, maximum weight of 18st.

* Please note:- We started running River Rafting after it was proving to be a very popular activity with a competitor company, who run exactly the same route, but call their activity 'White Water Rafting'. However after running this route on several occasions we personally think that calling this activity 'White Water Rafting' is a bit misleading and decided to rename this activity 'River Rafting' instead.

River rafting is available from October through to March and is dependent upon river levels, if the river is too low and sometimes even too high the activity cannot go ahead. However if River Rafting is not available you will have the opportunity of Kayaking further down the same river in our sit on top kayaks or Gorge Walking, both of which are fantastic alternatives.

We have monitored river levels for nearly 2 seasons and estimate that 4 out of 10 trips cannot go ahead because of inadequate water levels, so there is a good chance that you could end up with an alternative activity. If you ask other companies the same question you will probably find you will not get a straight answer as they more concerned with just taking your money. We would prefer to provide an honest service and not disappoint any of our customers!
